PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal data is collected, used, and processed by YKK (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“we”, “us” or “our company”).

PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT

We collect your personal data in several ways including but not limited to the following:-

  • When you submit your personal data to us for job application;
  • When you visit our office and factory premises;
  • When you contact us; and
  • When you visit our website ykk.com.my and social media pages (the “Sites”).

Examples of personal data we collect are:-

  • Name,
  • Email address;
  • Home address;
  • Phone number;
  • Bank account number;
  • Nationality; and
  • Date of birth

When you visit the Sites, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Sites, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Sites, and information about how you interact with the Sites. We refer to this automatically collected information as “Device Information”.

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

 HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?

We use the personal data obtained from you for the purposes stated below.  In cases where personal data is collected for a purpose not shown, the purpose for which it will be used will be made clear at the time of collection.

Should we decide to use the personal data for purposes other than those stated below, we will inform you of this new purpose and seek your permission.

We use the personal data and Order Information that we collect for the following purposes:-

  • Assess your suitability for the job you applied with us;
  • Determine conflict of interest between you and us;
  • Verify the identity of you and the accuracy of your personal data provided to us (whether by you or a third party);
  • Communicate with you;
  • Fulfil any orders placed through the Sites (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations)

  • When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services;

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about you browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

SHARING YOUR PERSONAL DATA

We share your personal data with third parties to help us use your personal data, as described above.

All YKK Group companies jointly use the personal data gathered.  We will, subject to relevant laws and regulations, transfer personal data collected, to entities in countries where data protection standards may differ from those in the country where you reside.  By providing us your personal data, visiting the Sites, or using any of our services, you understand that we may transfer your personal data globally.  In certain circumstances, courts, law enforcement agencies, regulatory agencies or security authorities in those other countries will be entitled to access your personal data.

Finally, we may also share your personal data to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

We will not provide any collected personal data to third parties except in the following cases:-

  • If the person concerned agrees to the provision of information to a third party.
  • Joint use of information among the YKK Group companies in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
  • If a YKK Group company has signed an agreement related to personal data protection with a contractor, such contractor may be entrusted with an assignment or services that falls within the scope of the stated purposes of the information.
  • When required by law, including under any Personal Data Protection Law.

You have the right to access personal data we hold about you and to ask that your personal data be corrected, updated, or deleted.

You also have a right to limit our processing of your personal data by expressly withdrawing the consent given previously, in each case, subject to any applicable legal restrictions. Please note that if consent is withdrawn, it may not be possible for us to accomplish the purposes set out above.

THIRD PARTY’S PERSONAL DATA

You are responsible to obtain the consent of any third party if you are providing such third party’s personal data to us.  Consent shall be deemed to have obtained from the third party for any third party’s personal data provided by you to us.

PERSONAL DATA MANAGEMENT

All YKK Group companies manage personal data in accordance with applicable laws in each jurisdiction in which they operate.

DATA RETENTION

We will retain your personal data as long as you have a relationship with us or as long as it is necessary to retain such personal data for any legal and/or business purposes.

CHANGES

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.  We reserve the right to unilaterally modify this Privacy Policy at any time, so please review it frequently. 

MISCELLANEOUS

The Sites may from time to time provide chat, forums, bulletin boards, news groups, electronic mail exchange facilities and other such services.  We ask you to exercise your own judgement and responsibility when providing personal data when you use these services.
